Sense and Sensibility!

Was reading the Times of India this morning and came across a news on Aamir Khan's latest movie 'Dhobi Ghat' being banned in Kolkata because the movie, more so the 'movie title' seemed derogatory to the washermen community. I have seen the film, and i didnt really come across any remark /gesture ridiculing the washermen. Infact, am a mumbaiite and i remember each time i passed dhobi ghat @ Mahalaxmi station, my dad fondly told be about the place and the people working there. Something somewhere must have probably seemed unpleasant to the men concerned. But understand that it was not made or meant to be that way!! Mind can think in any which way!! Why not just hold it back sometimes?? Else it will make living miserable someday!!
What i really didnt like about the movie and geneuinely feel that the Censor board should have edited was the 'chain smoking' act by Mr. Aamir Khan. I really felt it was absolutely not needed!! Smoking for sure, is not the prime requisite to build up an image/character!! It really should be banned on screen atleast!!! (I thought it was until i saw Aamir holding it and very 'stylishly' taking in puffs!!!)

I also read some days ago that the UP government is all set to put a ban on girls wearing 'jeans' in their state!! Ridiculous!! Guess there are more important issues in their state that they need to look into rather than telling others how they should dress up!! Don't think its any of their business on how someone dresses up unless it really is vulgar!! A college/ academic institute coming up with such a rule is still understandable!! Why cant they come up with mandatory girl education instead!!! Would do more good to all!!!

And then we have riots and bandhs over linguistic issues!!! Maharashtra must be topping the charts here am sure!!

Someone was telling me the other day that their close acquaintance had a child- thanks to IVF. And what shocked me was the 'ridiculous laughter' that followed! And it was all about not being able to have their own child!! BIG DEAL!!! Not everyone is fortunate!! Or may be some are just 'blessed' to have these special children!! Should they be talking about 'the brilliant advances that science has made or the flaws created more often by God' was what baffled me!!

Examples of how mind functions in absolutely erratic ways!!!!
Is it sooo difficult to be a little sensible and rational????
For Heaven's sake cut this crap!!!!!
Wipe the boundaries for once!! Leave money, position and religion aside!! Have a different and a more realistic perspective!!

BE A LITTLE REASONABLE!!
Cheers!

The power of a 'break' ;-)

'Break' ke baad ho, ya 'break-up' ke baad;
U come out 'refreshed' dono ke baad!! ;-)
There are more good things to a 'break' than one!

After months of tiring schedules or just boring, monotonous lifestyle, prolly all tat can create magic n make our ' oh the routine life' a lil different if not interesting, is a goood 'break!'.
I recently had one! After a lot of pondering.... with just less than a week left for my seminar!! And wen i was back, i was actually looking forward to gettin back to work!!! (which is quite a rare site ;))

There are times wen i need to catch up on my sleep n its a dream wen am at work!! :( Bt i still do manage to get myself a 'power nap' in our pg room wer everyones alarmed to wake me up no sooner thers a 'knock' at d door!!! And yes!!!! i hv been caught sleeping away to glory by who better than my 'boss'!!!!!!! And wat followed is not to be told!!! ;(
Bt nevertheless, 'power naps' do work wonders!! ;-D

Be it a book, or a song tat u love listenin to, a loong drive, a yummy meal wid pals or a chat wid a frnd or chhodo yaar- just a cutting chai..... wen all tat u need is a break, the smallest of things give great joy! :)
A break from people, a break from work, a break from the monotony or just a break to freak out!! Very important, very much needed!! And more than anything, a lot of funn!! :)
Like this famous phrase goes, 'All work and no play makes jack a dull boy.'
And so, 'work n play' n tat will make the dull boy happy again!! :)
Go ahead... do not think twice and take the much needed break..... give in to temptation......... and plunge into the fun land once in a while......
And wen u do get bck, u surely will praise ur mind!! :-)

Have a splendid 2011!! With work n fun alike!!
Cheers to the new year! :-)))

God, Goodness and a few good men!

How does the title sound? Interesting ?? Naahhh ?? :(.... Philosophical ??? Yeah???? ;-)
Then be it! :) Its alrite to get a lil philosophical at times ;)
The fortnite gone by (not to forget yesterday) has been very realistic, very blunt, very stressful, very sudden and yes very tough! There are times when things go on just soo smoothly without even wanting or trying for... n then there are some other times when situations change and things worsen wen nothing really seems to have gone wrong! We are in 'it' before we even know it, helpless and blank, and all that we see around are praying lips, crossed fingers and a lot of hope and faith!
Hope and faith?? in who?? .. :) Surely in our Gods... in our good deeds and in the few good men around! :)
I saw my mum pray... i saw my mum in law do the same... i had my friends saying their lil prayers ...i saw a tiny boy requesting God to make my dad alright! I know of a lovely family who were praying there, with us, for my dad and also their!! Another family who offered 'namaz' for their lil girl admitted there!!
And, God truly is great!!! :-) He does answer all our prayers! Sooner or later but he does!! :) And if he doesnt then it is because he has something better in mind!! :-) I believe so!! Completely!!
As they say ' if God has got u to it, HE WILL take u through it!'

Wen we are in such situations, there invariably is some sort of hope, somewhere in the corner of our hearts, that we havent wished or done bad to anyone and so nothing bad will come our way! And why not?? Believe it or not, some small act or gesture of kindness done and forgotten ages ago is noted by our angel of deeds!! i was taught this in my school and i have believed in it since then!
Nice things do happen to nice people!!! :)

We may be tough, we may be strong bt without some good men around we cannot pull on! Friends and well wishers are always there! But these people are strangers and are still there!! People with truly 'mighty golden hearts'!!! :) For us they were the doctors and his staff.... doing your job is different.... and doing it with a lot of feeling is another story!!! I have nothing but the best of wishes for all of them and am sure their guardian angels have made a note of it!!! :-)
Nice people very much exist!!!! :)

God , Goodness and a few good men!! :-))))))
The awesome threesome!!! ;-)))))
Cheers!!!

Shooooo!!!!.... Am in a serious 'state' ;-)

Now all of you who happen to read tis post.... Do take it in the rite n lite sense! :)
As a tiny lil four year old i loved watching the 'nandi bail' with all the drumwallas n dancers saunter through our dadar lanes. Just as enjoyable was to see the 'govindas' form the pyramids n break the matkaas with balloons n water splashing from all sides n the latest of songs playing in the backgroung! :-)
With Ganesh Chaturthi nearing, in a matter of a week, the most amazing of ganesh pandals would come up on all sides wid real huge Ganesh murtis, long long queues outside the sarvajanik pandals, loud music n a very lively atmosphere! :-) I remember going to shivaji park every year n standing on the streets wid my brother n mum till late nite watchin the biggest of murtis n the most high profile mandals line up to bid adieu to their favourite Lord.
Navratri was something i really looked forward to! No 10pm deadline then!... Music.. dance.. good food.. friends n tons of funn!! :-) Managed picking up a few garba n dandiya steps n was overwhelmed the first time i completed one full round widout missing a single beat!! ;-)

I've been in the south for more than six years now. Beautiful place wid nice warm people bt like it or not.... it surely is a dull state! Just too much of seriousness everywhere! No processions, no celebrations.... festivals come n festivals go.... jus too many strict rituals to follow... people who r proud of their roots (n they should be :)) bt not very flexible personalities.. Intellects for sure, bt donno how to let themselves loose! :-( ... They prolly like to live the 'silent' way!!!
Am sure ther will be many saying tats their way of enjoyement n i totally agree! The definition of 'enjoyement' differs from person to person! But it somewhere does reflect the personality or the mindset of that individual or crowd! N surely the upper part of the country scores in this category- Lively.. fun loving... carefree :-)
This is what i have seen of people here in the past six years.... you may agree or disagree....
But you cant ignore the fact tat the 'fun' element does majorly lack here!!! :-( .. N its sometimes nice to accept the brighter side of something/somebody else n not hv ur reasons proved jus to keep ur ego unhurt :)
So here goes a 'CHEERS' to the more joyful n vibrant lot! :-)))

P.S- I have nothing against any southindian! ;) Infact love them n married to one!! :)
But its just My blog.... My voice!
CHEERS! :-)))

Where is the 'appreciation' ???

'Finding Flaws' seems to be the current mantra! Be it our maniac media, our 'in'sane politicians and leaders or the so called 'classes' of the crowd!!

What better example than the Common Wealth Games 2010 that India proudly hosts!!! With our reporters only capturing which wall collapsed and what needs to be done!!! Sad that not one news channel aired what a splendid 'village' is set up there in the midst of a lovely city!!

Its so very disappointing to watch the leaders talk abt who won n who lost in the Ayodhya verdict and preach Humanity and Peace by passing the most controversial of comments and provoking remarks!! Not a single violent incident anywhere in my country after the verdict!!! Isn't that good enough?? That clearly goes in to tell in bold that all that the masses want is 'PEACE'. Such a mature response by the crowd n yet no one to applaud! Not one leader to come out n say to them that their response and support is appreciated!

I know of someone in my workplace who is working round the clock to get the much awaited n much needed international 'tag'! Loaded with responsibilities n just trying to fit in as much possible in the few hours of a day!!! N all that this man gets in return is 'frowns' n jokes cracked on him!!!

Guess such people should first enroll for classes on 'moral values and ethics'!

Loop holes do exist here n there! But unless u appreciate the efforts that have gone in how can you expect someone to perform better?? n surely not with some derogatory remarks!!
ROME was not built in a day! And it was not built by one man!!!
You put in ur first step as a kid- you fall- you stand up again! N that also needs some encouragement from ur mom whose standing rite there cheering u up!!!

Appreciation can do a world of good!!
If only people have the time, to stop n notice the bright side,
n the sense to pat that man for the amount of work tat has gone inside!

Cheers to the efforts, Cheers to appreciation!!
Cheers to the smiles you see in reciprocation!! :-) :-)

Its NEVER Greener on the other side!!!!!

How i wish i was in ur shoes...... ur jus soo lucky ya...... its not like how its wid u!!!!
Take a break people!!!! If its not like this wid u, then work n change to make it like this!!! N stop believing tat am the chosen 'unlucky one!'.... wid oh so many problems in life!!!

Grass is never greener on the other side, if only u change the way u look at it!!! Nothing comes easy and to NOBODY! The smiles today are becoz of the efforts made yesterday!
So much to learn from soo many!! Each time i crib about something or am upset of things just not happening rite..... i come across somebody whose in a worse situation than me ..... and i find it surprising how they manage to pull out happy n all smooth! But a closer look and i know how 'smooth' its really been!!!!

I remember each time i cried as a kid, my dad just ignored me....... Ignored till i wiped my tears n realised tat i needed to change for the situation to change!!! N believe it or not...... this lesson has only n only fetched me smiles all along! No harm in bending for the good of all... no point in having an ego tat will take me no where... And no point in believing that everything about me is just soo jinxed!!! Its all in the mind! :)

My lesson for Life.... i have no clue of wat goes on in someone else's life.... so i better keep my mouth shut n not give the credit to her/his 'luck' ;-) N i dont hv the whole big world to worry about so i can very much make my lil world Green!!! :-) Its all in my hands!!! :-)

Believe it or not, its NEVER greener on the other side!!! N even if it is, its none of my business!!! :-)

CHEERS!!! :-)

Am ready!................ What next??? :-)

Gettin ON!! ... And happily so!! Just a fortnite ago i was this totally jobless gurl with a schedule tat would make anyone Jealous ;) Life sure has been a sprint for me!! Atleast the year gone by!!

Betrothal-Marriage-New home- someone's Wife n a daughter in law !!! From being this fun loving college student wid the 'chalta hai yaar' attitude to a Staff (senior resident) and Staff wife n now a Post graduate student!!!! Whoa!!! Lot many changes on the personal n professional front !!! :)

My LAST one month at home was full of chaos! With the D-day approachin, i had umpteen things to do!! And for the first time tis thought crossed my mind- ' Bunk the marriage! Dont wanna leave family n bombay!!! Wish i could go back in time n change things '.......... Did make a decision to marry n settle down but then i felt it was not as easy as i had thot!!

The first month after the wedlock was Funn!! :-) With me being the center of attraction at home n everywer i went.... Found it lil wierd n funny bt enjoyed being the VIP guest!! ;-)) The couple of months tat followed at home were a mixture of responsibilites... enjoyment... boredom... missin my people... settling down... gettin to knw my neighbourhood... overall, a pleasant experience! :) It was a fast fast life in bombay and Hubli is the other side of the coin! Both hv been great so far, ofcourse wid their share of grey patches! But i believe tats needed to make the big picture balanced!! :)

3months of workin n earnin wr jus soo good!! And before i knew it i was back to being a student!! Have seen life as a hostelite n now gettin a taste of wat it is like to start early frm home ... n not have your 'own' room to tk a nap inbetween n listen to ur frnds talk of wat they did last nite in the room n at d nescafe... n then rush bc home before its dark n quiet!!! It surely is a different take!!!

At times i find it amusin wid d way things keep changing in life!! So unpredictable n sometimes soo 'never thot of ' !!! And all the modifications the mind has to go thru so tat it doesn't lose out!!! Fair or unfair i really dont know! Bt gues tats how clock works!! Jus to make us realise tat its all abt 'Movin on' !! :) With a fair share of cribbin n whining! ;)

Its a mixed baggage! Be it Sunshine or the Storm....
Its ultimately all about just Happily GETTIN ON!!! :-) :-) :-)

Let go your sadness, Give up the plight;
Get on the right gear and Take flight!!!
CHEERS!!! :-)))))
